Temporary IT Coordinator (Helpdesk Technician) (Bethesda, MD)

The Temporary IT Coordinator provides direct technical support to local and remote employees and assists the Systems Administrator with daily network operations, infrastructure management, and planning. This is an approximately 4-6 week temporary employment position.

Specific roles and responsibilities:
• Monitor helpdesk system and respond to incoming support requests
• Provide technical support for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X workstations
• Provide assistance with network printing and file sharing
• Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues
• Manage hardware and software inventories
• Set up, troubleshoot, and repair workstation hardware and software configurations
• Provide telephone and remote desktop support to off-site users
• Provide troubleshooting support for A/V presentations (laptops, projectors, etc.)
• Manage the transportation of AV equipment to and from conferences, training sessions, and other off-site events

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree required
• 1--3 years of hands-on helpdesk or similar technical support experience
• MCSE/CCNA preferred
• Ability to install, configure, and troubleshoot the following operating systems: Mac OS X, Linux (Debian, RedHat), Windows Server 2003 and 2008, Windows XP, Windows 7
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, switching, routing)
• Knowledge of network security fundamentals (firewall concepts, virus outbreak containment, account privileges, password management)
• Ability to approach troubleshooting logically rather than by trial and error
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with users
• Flexibility and time management; ability to quickly switch between tasks and re-prioritize as necessary
• Interest in learning about new technologies and applications
